Microsoft Visual C & C++: Speed of a machine

Hi
Is there any way to check to speed of a machine?
Like, is it (information about the speed of the machine) present some where in control panel, etc.

One way is to check when the system is booting up, but I want the other way.

With warm regards

if you have MS-Office 97 installed, then go to Help --> About MicroSoft word.
Click on the System Info button there and in the window whcih comes up go to Components --> system. you get it.

Hope this helps.
